Snails, Duck, Kangaroo, Sheep~

It's the start of yet another week... even though it's a public holiday for most people today in Australia, this one had to go to work =(

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
But over the weekend, namely on Sunday, I went to Paris~~~ *delusional @_@~*. Went to somewhere interesting after teaching Sunday School. We made some really cool Iris Folding stuff :D Promised a friend we'd go for lunch this Sunday, so I had to ditch the original plans of going to Cronulla and busking on the beach.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Threatened my friend to make it worth cancelling my other plans. Guess threats work like magic because we went to The Little Snail and it was great! One of the best lunches~ :P

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
No alcohol! Didn't have any~

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
There was a cute little fish tank inside with goldfish and oscar fish. One goldfish was always smiling and swallowing stones from the bottom of the tank and shooting them back out of its mouth like bullets XD

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
AND I tried my very first escargot~ it was 3 course lunch menu for $35, any entree, main and dessert. This was their Escargots de Bourgogne- dozen snails marinated in herb-infused court bouillon, oven baked in garlic butter.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Pate Maison- Armagnac flavoured duck liver pate with marinated champignons, date chutney and port vinaigrette.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Came with fresh bread, but that wasn't nearly enough bread for the pate, so we ordered another basket of bread. The escargot sauce was particularly good to mop up with bread :D so don't waste it~

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Love the utensils for eating escargot XD It's a wonder that none went flying to the next table~ they were pretty hard to hold on to- the garlic butter made it slippery.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Even the plate was designed especially to hold the empty shells.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
On to the mains: Loin of Lamb with witted baby spinach, maple glazed pommes, boulangere and thyme jus.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Quality cutlery used in that restaurant! :D Stanley's friend by the same name.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
And this~

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
This is Kangaroo fillet (recommended rare) on garlic pommes puree with a dijon mustard and honey bourdelaise sauce. I actually asked if I could have mine medium rare, but apparently that destroys the texture of it, and the waitress assured me it wasn't going to be bloody like rare beef would be. It came out just fine :D

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Dessert: Handmade profiteroles with creme patisserie and mint chocolate sauce

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Chef churned hazelnut and praline ice cream on shortbread and Grand Marnier caramel. The shortbread actually tasted like those almond biscuits...

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Sunday was also the Jazz and Blues Festival, which happens throughout the long weekend out in Darling Harbour. They had several locations where bands play live jazz and blues, some which are original works.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
This was another location. It was raining pretty heavily yesterday, but people still gathered to listen~ a couple of people wearing jackets that say "Brisbane" at the back were totally into it and dancing along with the music. You could tell they were part of a dancing company in Brisbane by their moves.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Saw this helicopter flying way low around the maritime museum area too.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Do you see something wrong with this sign?

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Saw fudge in the making. Sydney really does have some interesting tourist attractions.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
We were standing a level up from where they were making this, so with a bird's eye view and Stanley that is actually quite bad with zoom.... the guy with giant spatula to mix the fudge mixture on the table before it hardens.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Chopping it to pieces after placing mint bits on top.

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
Then before that, I headed to my friend's office for some coffee :D I already had coffee in the morning, but two can't hurt~

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
And this was their office's tearoom. O o it was crazy neat, clean, spacious, high tech and was like my dream kitchen with all the equipments that it had =________= how can an office be so nice!! I wouldn't even feel like working if that was the tearoom in my office, haha. This machine made super good coffee too. Imagine getting quality coffee everyday at work for free!!

From Weeks 21-25, 2011
View from 4th floor. Everything in that office was automated too, including lights..

So this is what modern offices look like =(

$35 for 3 course! That's really a good deal especially having a look at the courses you got. How did you find the escargot? It seemed pretty much like mussels etc the last time I tried it. I also liked the utensils! :)

it was a good deal for the quality and quantity! I was actually really full afterwards and kept trying to give the kangaroo (it was a whole mountain atop mash, really filling) away to my friend. You should try their lunch sometime with Shawn~ apparently you get the same thing for dinner, just at a higher price.

I liked the escargot! They cooked it really well, and the sauce was just sooo good. I've never had mussels cooked in that kind of sauce, so it's a quite different~
